Institute 1-2 Linfield

Linfield  joined Crusaders on 29 points with a hard fought 2-1 win over Institute. Muster and Ferguson had the Blues leading 2-0 before Quigley pulled a goal back for "Stute".


Linfield 3-1 Dungannon Swifts

Linfield move second with a 3-1 home win over Dungannon Swifts with goals from Mulgrew, Miskimmin and Ferguson, the defeat drops Dungannon into the bottom two.

New Date for Glenavon - Linfield Game

The JJB Sports Premiership game between Glenavon and Linfield at Mourneview Park has been rearranged for December 9 with a 8pm kick off.

Ballymena United 2-0 Linfield

Linfield fell to the shock result of the season at the Ballymena Showgrounds were United secured a first league win of the season with a Kevin Kelbie double. The 2-0 victory was overshadowed by the tragic death of United starlet Aaron Stewart’s mother Lorraine who lost her life in an accident on route to the game.

Linfields weekend fixture with Ballymena United may have to be cancelled as goalkeeper Allan Manus is on international duty and back-up Stuart Addis is struggling with an injury sustained in last weeks Co Antrim Shield semi-final. A decision will be made later in the week.

Linfield bagged five goals without reply at a sunny Clandeboye Park. The blues dominated from start to finish and the floodgates opened after Mark Gracey headed in an own goal in 15th minute. Further goals from Jamie Mulgrew, Glen Ferguson and a brace from Paul Munster compounded the misery for Bangor boss Marty Quinn.

Co Antrim Shield Quarter Final

 

Linfield progressed to the semi-final of the County Antrim Shield with a 1-0 victory over Lisburn Distillery, Midfielder Jamie Mulgrew scored the winning goal with a superb 30-yard shot into the top corner in the 17th minute

New Deals For Young Stars

 

Linfield FC have agreed three year deals with two off their upcoming young stars. Billy Joe Burns and Robert Garrett have signed full time contracts with the league champions

Glenavon Game Postponed

 

Linfields league fixture with Glenavon on 6th September has been postponed following the inclusion of Linfiels goalkeeper Alan Manus in the Northern ireland squad for the Word Cup Qualifiers against Slovakia and the Czech Republic.

Dungannon Swifts 1-1 Linfield

 

It was nearly a case of Déjà vu for Linfield as they travelled to Dungannon Swifts, the blues had lost heavily at Stangmore Park in the corresponding fixture last season and they seemed to be heading to another defeat as Dungannon lead 1-0 through a Rodney McAree penalty as the game entered its forth minute of injury time, when up stepped 19 year old Billy Joe Burns with a spectecular volley past Dwayne Nelson and into the top right hand corner of the net.

Reigning Champions Linfield got their campaign off to a winning start with a 1-0 victory over Newry City, the Blues were made to work hard by a stubborn Newry City side and had to wait until the 61st minute for a goal from substitute John Martin.

IT will be a free day for Linfield fans when they make their way to Windsor Park on Saturday afternoon.

The powers that be at the club decided in the wake of last Saturday’s abandoned match at Windsor that they should allow free entry to all supporters for the game with Newry.

The visitors are hopeful of breaking their way into the top four of the table this season and have made some significant advances with the signings of keeper Paul Murphy (Ballymena Utd) and defender Ross Black (Larne).

Steven Garrett and Kevin Keegan have shaken off minor injuries and are in contention for selection for City.

Free Admission This Saturday

 

Linfield have announced that admission to this Saturdays JJB Premiership Game with Newry City will be free for both sets of supporters. The decision was taken in response to the abandonment of last weeks Cliftonville match. A decision on when to replay the game is proving difficult with the upcoming Sentanta Cup games and Linfield have acted quickly to ensure their supporters who were inconvenienced are not out of pocket. Linfield are also working with Cliftonville in the hope of coming of an arrangement with Reds fans who attended the game.
