The game itself may not last in the memory as long as the occasion but both managers will ultimately be satisfied with the outcome.  Premiership new boys Bangor may have left the Oval pointless but Marty Quinn’s team proved that they are worthy of a place at the top table of local football with a spirited display.

Glentoran manager Alan McDonald will be delighted with the win, which moves the Glens into third place in the JJB Sports premiership. A goal from Gary Hamilton in the 56th minute spared his teams blushes after Daryl Fordyce had missed a second half penalty
